Nailspiration with Operatic Makeup

Hello lovelies!

I have a special post to share with you today.  A couple of weeks ago I saw some photos of some gorgeous makeup my dear friend Danielle did on a client.  Danielle is an Orange County/ Los Angeles based MUA that I have had the pleasure of singing/being wild with for a few years and I always blown away by the work that she does.  This particular look she did definitely conjoured up some nailspiration!

Let's start with the make-up first...

Colors Used: Urban Decay - Electric Palette (Urban and Savage)

I just love that purple!  And the hot pink adds some sass ;)  The palette that she used is filled with brightly pigmented shadows that I just drool over!

Anywhosy, this look got me thinking about the polishes I had in my collection that might be similar in shade and fun to mash up...

Color Used: B Squared Lacquer - Body Electric and Royals, Color Club - Endless and Jackie OH!

This first polish that jumped to mind what "Body Electric" by B Squared Lacquer.  It's a white crelly with purple and hot pink hex glitters mixed in.

I then pulled out my other favorite B Squared, "Royals".  It's a gorgeous blurple jelly with holo glitters mixed in.  Color Club "Endless" and "Jackie OH!" are the pale and hot pinks I used.  I did a mixed drip/melt mani using a dotting tool and striping brush.

 I love!

I'm hoping Danielle and I can do more mash-ups like this one.  I love the challenge!

If you're interested in seeing more of Danielle's work, you can check her out via Instagram (@operaticmakeup).  If would like to book her for an event, you can email her at operaticmakeup@gmail.com :)

Until next time!

I Scream, You Scream...

Hello, dearies!

I was going to wait until Monday to start sharing some of the scary/spooky/kooky nail art that I've been working, but I did one last night that I'm just itching to post!  I think I mentioned recently that I'm still struggling with stamping.  It's embarrassing at this point.  Yes, I am a nail artist that can't stamp very well :(  With that being said, I dusted off my nail plates last night to see if there was anything spooky to inspire me and I found...

kiloX Lacquers KILO, Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, black, crelly, glitter, Halloween, Scream Mask, drip, drippy, blod, scary, nails, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used: kiloX Lacquers - KILO, Sinful Colors - Ruby Ruby, Konad - White

The Scream Mask!  I must confess, I've never seen the movie.  I was a tween when it came out and was always too scared to watch it.  The mask is iconic tho and I immediately knew I had to try it (I used stamping plate SH02)

I'm all excited, finally ready to get this stamping thing right and somehow I managed to stamp the mask crookedly.  I was furious!  I refused to call it a wash tho, so I free-handed the line of his hood to give it some dimension and I thought, "Hmm... that's not half bad...".  I decided to add a little bit of drippy blood and then topped it all with Color Club Clear.   I just want to add, I didn't do this over my previous swatch of KILO lol.  I just decided I wanted to rock it again because it's such and awesome polish!

Yay Halloween!

Have any of you started getting into the spooky spirit yet?  Are you planning a fantastically ghoulish party??  I'm particularly excited for Halloween this year :D

Until next time!

Step Into Summer - Ice Cream

Hello, hello my lovelies!

Quick post this evening.  I've been M.I.A. because it's been another busy week.  I swear this won't last forever lol.  Onto the mani!

I did another installment of the Step Into Summer Challenge...

Ice Cream, Love & Beauty Pink Froating, Drip, Drippy, Pink, Glitter, Jelly Sandwich, nails, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used: Love & Beauty - Pink Icing, Sinful Colors - Nirvana, Sally Hansen - Butter-fly Stroke and White On, Julep - Denver

It's ice cream!!  I looooove ice cream haha.  And drippy nails are always fun to do :)

I started with 3 coats for Pink Icing as my base.  This polish is what I like to call an insta-jelly-sandwich.  Easy to apply and super cute without much effort at all.  On lazy days (or days when I'm limited on time), I reach for these kinds of polishes.  Anywhosy, I then applied the drips and sprinles with a combo of dotting tools and a striping brush.  I top coated and was done!

I'm wishing I had this kind of ice cream sundae in front of my face right now.  I'd annihilate it lol

Before I post the links to this challenge below, I thought I would let you all know about "Min Mani's for Talia Joy" happening tomorrow.  Talia was a beautiful 13 yr old girl who lost her battle with cancer this week.  She was a whiz with make-up/nails and in memory of her Nail Polish Wars is encouraging everyone to rock mint mani's tomorrow (Friday, July 19th).  I plan participating and showing the love, I hope you will too :)

Until next time!

Drip, Drip, Drop!

Good afternoon, lovies!

I have to make this post quick and to the point because I have to rush off to work haha.  I just finished these about 5 mins ago, please forgive the cuticle oil...

Sally Hansen, White On, NPW Rainbow Nail Art Pens neon, drip, melt, merge, nails, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used:  Sally Hansen - White On, NPW Rainbow Micro-Nib Nail Art Pens

I LOVE the way these turned out!

I bought the nail art pens last year while shopping at Urban Outfitters and I've only used them on one occassion.   I figured they need some attention ;)

I'm so sorry that I don't have the time to get into more details with this mani, but I hope you enjoy it :)  Something fun and funky to brighten my day haha.  Now off to work I go!

Until next time!

What's Your Flavor?

Happy happy HAPPY Thursday everyone!  I love Thursdays because they are my last day of work for the week and then I have a 3 day weekend to look forward to (altho I suppose I technically "work" at church on Sundays.  But it's a labor of love so it shouldn't count hahaha).

Today's mani is inspired by the one thing I can NEVER say no to... it's my Kryptonite... Mint-chip ice cream!  *sigh* I love it so very much, probably a little too much :P  I've been craving it for weeks and still haven't gone out to get any :\  The other night I finally mustered up the energy to go to the store only to come to the realization that it was closed.  I was going to whine about it but instead decided to get creative...

Mint, mint chip, ice cream, drip, nail art, mani

Colors Used: Sally Hansen - Mint Sorbet, Sinful Colors - Nirvana, Jesse's Girl - Spring Break, Sally Hansen - Mellow Yellow, Sally Hansen - White On

I'd seen this drip nail idea on quite a few nail blogs and YouTube tut's and I thought it would go well as a sort of sundae look.  I went digging around in my fimo box for cherries but the only ones I could find were 2 attached to a stem, not quite right.  So I opted for strawberries :)

For those who are curious, I used my biggest dotting tool to draw the fudgey drips.  This is definitely a look I'm going to try again in the future to see if I can improve on the drippy look.

One last photo to send you off with!

Mint, mint chip, ice cream, drip, nail art, mani

I'd just like to say that I really love and appreciate all of the positive feedback that I've been receiving from you all!  You guys are amazing and I love you *gasp*... I said the L word!  Hahaha :P

Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think :)  If you have a suggestion for a mani you think I should try out or if you have any questions about how / what I do, leave those in the comments as well :)  Also, follow me!!  If you look on the left side toolbar you'll see a little thing that says "followers".  Click join this site and then I'll know that you're following me and I can send some love your way (I have a sneaking suspicion that there are more than 19 of you lol).  If I get to 25 followers I plan on doing a giveaway... because you guys are awesome and deserve one :D

Soooooo, with that being said...

Until next time!
