Inspired by the Evil Queen

Hiya, lovies!

I have a quick post for you today.  My inspiration was The Evil Queen (who's name is actually Queen Grimhilde) from Disney's Snow White...

Mentality Tempest, OPI Stay the Night, Disney, Snow White, Evil Queen, Queen Grimhilde, skull, crackle, inspired, nailas, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used: Rimmel - Black Satin, OPI - It Color and Stay the Night, Mentality - Tempest, Daisy Nail Lacquer - White Diamond, Maybeline - Carbon Frost

I wanted to go for something a little more dark/sinister rather than cartoonish...

I free-handed the crown and apple and then used stamping plate SH02 for the skull and cross bones.

I wish the detail of the apple popped more but c'est la vie!

It's almost the weekend!!  Anyone else excited?  :P

Until next time!

Hey, Jasmine... Be Jealous ;)

Good morning lovelies!

It's Friday and payday (well at least for me it is) and I love that combination :D  I'm looking forawrd to a weekend of being domestic, i.e cleaning the apartment, grocery shopping, buying little odds and ends to decorate for fall... I'm excited!

Anywhosie... for today's post I want to share a mani that I did weeks ago.  I completely forgot about it, which is a shame because I'm kind of in love with it.  I was inspired by Princess Jasmine.  We'd been watching Aladdin a lot at work recently so it was a natural progression.  Just a forewarning, this post is a little pic heavy...

Colors Used: Julep - Gwyneth, Felicity and Robin

I started with 2 coats of Gwyneth, a "sheerest pink clear" polish according to Julep.

I then swiped on 2 coats of Felicity, by far my favorite gold polish in my collection.  If I wasn't already married, I'd marry it!  <3

Then I added Robin on top (also 2 coats).  Again, it's such a beautiful color.  I just love it...

I believe I topped it with Out The Door quick dry top coat, but I'm not positive :\
Julep, Robin, Felicity, Gwyneth, Princess Jasmine, frenchie, french tip, nail art, nail design, mani

Simple but oh so pretty :)  If you haven't tried Julep's polishes/Maven program, I highly recommend it.  They are an awesome company and the product is fabulous.  It's the best 20 bucks I spend every month!  :D

Before I forget, I added a new page to my blog.  It's just an inventory of my polish collection.  I put it together so that I stop buying duplicates of polishes that I already own and so that I can keep a count.  I don't expect you all to be terribly interested lol.  Just a heads up in case you were curious :)

Well that's all for now...

Until next time!

We're Going To Disneylad! :)

Good morning all!  I'm up a lot earlier than my alarm was meant to wake me because I just couldn't stay asleep haha.  Today is a pretty big day... we're taking the kids at my work on a field trip to Disneyland (this will be our first time doing a trip this big!).  I'm excited/nervous about the day, but I'm sure everything will be alright :)

I decided to paint my nails for the occasion (naturally)!  I went with a Minnie Mouse theme (and no I didn't use any of the colors from O.P.I./s collection :P).  I also am not a huge fan of how they turned out.  I did them in pretty dim lighting and I didn't catch all of the flaws until this morning.  I don't care though, because watching R.E.D with my honey and sissy-in-law is much more important to me than having perfect nails :)  Anywhosie...

Colors Used: Julep - January, Rimmel - Black Satin, Sally Hansen - White On

I started with painting the tips in January.  It's a gorgeous red color that only required one thin-ish coat.  Love it!  I couldn't find my favorite striping brush anywhere so I had to resort to using a different nail art brush for my stripes... not cool! (Hence why there are some bare pars to the stripes *sigh*) I used a small dotting tool to make the polka-dots on the tips.

The Minnie was pretty easy to achieve.  The Rimmel polish brush is wide and rounded so the base of  her head was a cinch!  (I highly recommend this it to anyone who is looking for a really excellent black polish.  It is pretty mush amazing!)  Then I did a little bit of swirling with the larger dotting tool for the ears, flipped the dotting tool over and used the smaller side to dot out the bow.

Disney, Disneyland, Minnie Mouse, Julep January, red, white polka dot, french tip, frenchie, nail art, nail design, mani

Although it has it's imperfections, I really liked this mani and It's definitely put me in a Disney kind of mood.  I wish I'd had more time to do something a little more elaborate.  Alas, something is better than nothing at all lol :)

So what do you all think?  I hope you all have a fabulous day!  I also pray that I make through mine (10 hour day with the kids and then a 2 hour rehearsal after that along with a late-night El Torito dinner with friends... ack!).

Until next time...

P.S. Julep posted my Chevron/Fishtail mani in their "Nail of the Day" on Facebook.  How cool is that??  :D

"It is not slime, it is mucus!"

Happy Friday everyone!  The weekend (for all intensive purposes) is here and I am glad, glad, glad!!

I understand that princess week was last week?  I don't know how I missed that, but it's been bugging me!  So I decided to do a princess mani to make me feel a little bit better lol.  I tossed around a lot of ideas as to which princess to choose (Aurora is my fave, but I hate pink... Alice doesn't really count... etc.), what to do design-wise and which colors to choose.  I decided to go with Tiana :)  She is an incredibly fierce princess and I haven't really seen a lot of nail art for her.  Here 'tis...

Princess and the frog, Tiana, Mardi Gras, green, nail art, mani

Princess and the frog, Tiana, Mardi Gras, green, nail art, mani
w/ flash...
For the colors used I'm going to list them in rainbow order (yellow, blue, green, blue, pink, purple black, white and grey).  Color's Used: Confetti - They Call Me Mellow Yellow, Sally Hansen - Green with Envy, NYC - High Line Green, Love & Beauty - Teal, Confetti - Bayou Blue, E.L.F. - Flirty Fuchsia, Sinful Colors - Dream On, Confetti - Black Tie, Wet n' Wild - French White Creme, O.P.I. - Skull & Glossbones, NYC - Mulberry Street and China Glaze - Fairy Dust.

As you can see, starting at the thumb, I did Mardi Gras beads, a crown, Tiana's dress, a frog and a firefly. I think I covered the basics lol. I really had fun with this mani and I think they're pretty cute :)

I had said in a previous post that I'd have some guest nails to show buuuuuut... so far, the girlies have asked for cupcakes... and cupcakes... and... cupcakes!  I guess I'll just have to do some more mani's on myself.  Drat ;)  Have a safe weekend ladies...

Until next time!
