A La Mode

Hello, hello!  I hope your weekend is going well :)  I slept in for the first time is a while and it was great!  Just finished having breakfast with my honey and spending time on the couch with the fam-bam *sigh*... it's been nice haha.

Well, for today's mani I was inspired to do nail art that matched a new dress of mine (I have made a personal challenge to own 50 dresses by the end of the year, I'm halfway there!  I love love love dresses!  I found some on clearance at Target yesterday and snatched them up.)  I really like matching my mani's to my outfits, hence the title of this post.  Here is it's meaning according to Wikipedia...

à la mode
idiomatic: in the style; In the United States, the phrase is used to describe a dessert with an accompanying scoop of ice cream (example: apple pie à la mode). In French, it just means trendy. Boeuf à la mode for instance is a beef recipe with ale, carrots and onions.

The dress and sweater (currently being worn)...

And the nails...

Fashion inspired, OPI It Girl, Revlon Bare Bones, Sinful Colors Midnight Blue, polka dot, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used: Revlon - Bare Bones, Sinful Colors - Midnight Blue, O.P.I. - The "It" Color

2 coats of each polish (3 for It Gril) and some simple dotting :)  Topped it off with Love & Beauty's Quick Dry Top Coat (found at Forever 21), love this stuff!  It is a close second to Julep's topcoat which I went gaga over lol.  Please excuse the horrendous state of my cuticles.  My skin has been ridiculously dry the past couple of weeks and nothing seems to be helping :(  I'm planning on upping the water intake.

My nails with the skirt...

Overall I'm very pleased with how it turned out.  I feel like they are very "me" :D

I have some exciting news to share... I've reached 25 followers!  Yayayayayayayyy!!!  Lol.  I'm so thankful and appreciative of you all, so as promised I am going to host a giveaway :)  Details will be coming soon and I apologize but it will only be open to US residents for the time being (so so so so sorry!).  With that having been said...

Until next time!

Watermelon-Nom-Noms And A Haul :)

I just couldn't stay away!  Hello and happy Friday y'all!  :D

I know that I said I wouldn't post until Saturday... but I'm a big fat liar :P  I did a watermelon mani and decided that I had to share.  I've seen this done on a lot of blogs and it's certainly not an originail idea from me lol.  It just looked fun so I gave it a try :)

Julep Rose, Julep Leah, watermelon, polka dot, summer, summery, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used: Julep - Rose, Julep - Leah, Sally Hansen - Green With Envy, Rimmel - Black Satin

2 coats of both Rose and Leah, Envy applied with a striper and I used a dotting tool for the "seeds".  Easy enough, right?  I topped it off with Out the Door.  I was extremely impatient and didn't wait for my polka dot's to set before top coating and I ended up with some streaks *sniff*.  Lesson learned (for now lol).

One more photo...

As you can see, there is some tip wear.  I wasn't planning on posting this mani because it's been done so much.  But I've had it on for a couple of days and I just love them.  So I took pics well after I should have.  Cest la vie!

I also wanted to share my recent polish purchases with you... after the jump!

Naked Splatter Mani

Hello and good morning!  I'm getting ready to head out to work (we're taking the kiddos to the LA Zoo :D) but I thought it might be nice if I did a post first haha.

For today's mani I tried a technique that I saw on YouTube by cutepolish.  I had a hard time getting the polish to spread with my dotting tool the way that she did, so I took out some nail art pens that I got over the weekend at Urban Outfitters and went to town...

The reason why I've decided to call this a naked splatter is because I didn't use a base color.  I applied O.P.I Nail Evnvy to my nails as my base coat (I don't think it's doing anything for me :(  As you can see, my ring finger is down to a nub and my thumb isn't fairing well either...).

I really like the way these turned out.  If I was a raver, I'm sure I'd be in candy-kid heaven lol.  I definitely want to try this look again :)

Naked nails, splatter, pink, yellow, blue, green, orange, nail art, nail design, mani

A couple of side notes... I'm 2 followers away from throwing a polish giveaway for you guys :)  I also am planning on spending some time with week hanging with my honey, working on music, cleaning my room and other such things.  Which means you probably won't hear from me until Saturday for that I am sorry but know that I still love you lol.  With that being said, I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Until next time!

Church Mani: Let Freedom Ring!

Happy Sunday, friends!  It has been a roller coaster of a weekend.  I got paid (+1), was responsible and put half of my check into our savings fund (-1), went shopping with the Fashionista at The Americana (+1), got some really great stuff for when we (honey and I) move out because there was a sale at Sur Le Table (+1), had my cell phone stolen while shopping at H&M (-2), got a new and better phone (+1), but had to pull money out of savings to buy it (-1).  Which leaves me at a neutral 0 and that's is a-okay.

Having to replace my phone also means that I won't be able to buy a legit camera anytime soon, which I was really hoping for :(  So I'll just have to figure out how to take really great pics with my new phone *le sigh*

My church mani for today is in the colors of red, white and blue because we celebrate Independence Day in our services.  Full orchestra, choir and a 90 ft flag!  They do it up big at the Crystal Cathedral.  I wanted to get into the spirit of the day so  I came up with this...

Colors Used: Ulta - Blue Streak, Essie - Blanc, Sally Hansen - Pumping Iron, Julep - January, Julep - America

I don't have much to say about this mani.  I would never claim to be a super patriotic individual but I do appreciate the history of my country and the sacrifices that were made in order fo me to have a better life.  So happy birthday America!

I'm pretty tired and not feeling very creative in the writing department but I love you all and hope you have a fabulous (and safe!) holiday...

Until next time!

P.S. Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends :D
