It Might As Well Be Spring

Good evening, everybody!

I am so stinkin' tired but I really want to share this cute little mani with you :)  My friend Nini came over yesterday for a "class" in nail art flowers.  She is going on a cruise in june with her mom and sister and would like to be able to do something cute on their nails.  I showed her a couple of examples of some flowers and she shows the five-point-polka-dotty one (aka the hibiscus haha).  I did an example on my own nails and then I just kept going...

Wet n Wild, Blazed, coral, yellow, hibiscus, flowers, Hawaiian, nails, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used: Wet n Wild - Blazed, Sally Hansen - Mellow Yellow, China Glaze - Four Leaf Clover, Love & Beauty - Highlighter Glitter

I think what I like most about this mani is that I unintentionally made it look like a Hawaiian shirt lol.

I don't really have anything else to expound on with this.  It was an unexpected mani that turned out well so I figured I would share :)  Now... I'm off to paint some St. Patricks Day nails!

Until next time!

Velvety Flowers For Epilepsy Awareness

Good morning, lovelies!

I have another purple mani for Epilepsy Awareness that I would like to share with you :)  On Monday I posted my purple bunting nails that were inspired by a segment Nail Narcotics is doing on her blog to spread the word about epilepsy.  I was so thrilles to get involved!  I thought I would do one more mani to show my support...

Wet n Wild, Fashionista Lisa, purple, driend flowers, matte, velvet, epilepsy awareness, nails, nail art, nail design, mani
Color Used: Wet n Wild - Fashionista Lisa

I started with 3 coats of Lisa (for full opacity) and then topped it with NYC's Matte Me Crazy topcoat.

While the matte polish was still wet I pressed in my dried flowers.  They feel surprisingly secure on my nails, altho I doubt I'll have them on long enough to really find out lol.

I love the velvety  look of this!  And you can never go wrong with dried flowers ;)  I realized after taking the pictures that I missed a couple of spots during clean-up.  Oh well!

If you haven't had a chance, check out Nail Narcotics' blog!  The purple manicures being posted are wonderful and the information invaluable :)

Until next time!

Insta Jelly Sandwich

Hiya!

For today's post I want to share a polish that I picked up at Forever 21 last weekend.  Since they do not put the names of their polishes on the bottles, I had to go to their website and look it up (which is a real paint in the butt and I wish they would get it together!)

Color Used: Love & Beauty - Glittering Dawn

I saw this bottle sitting on the shelf and I just couldn't past it by!

A baby blue jelly base with fuchsia, white, and holo chunky glitter along with fine specks of dark blue glitter... love it!!  It's very spring looking while following the indie polish trend of fun glitters is interesting bases :)

I'm calling it an insta jelly sandwich because it does all of the work for me. I don't have to layer jelly/glitter/jelly because it's all thrown into one bottle :)  It was beautiful at 2 coats but I did 3 to ensure that the jelly base came across in photos.

Love & Beauty, Glittering Dawn, jelly base, baby blue, glitter, chunky glitter, nails, nail art, nail design, mani

I've realized that I own over 30 Love & Beauty polishes and for good reason!  They have a wide selection and at $2.80/bottle it's hard to pass up haha.  If you don't have a Forever 21 near you or your store does not carry polishes (I know that some don't because customers were painting on display cases to test them, which is just wrong because that's vandalism) you can always order polishes from their website ;)

Until next time!

Minted Holo Ombre

Good day , lovies!

I've been going back and forth on whether I should share this mani on the blog.  I did this about a week ago, after being inspired by some nail art that I saw my friend "the fashionista" wearing.  Once It was completed tho, I wasn't entirely pleased so I took it off...

Colors Used: Sally Hansen - Mint Sorbet, Love & Beauty - Highlighter Glitter

Mint Sorbet is one of my very favorite mint polishes and I thought it would pair really well with the holo glitter. But it just looks sort of washed out...

It was also difficult getting an even ombre.  The glitter is so refelctive, it was a challenge to see what I was doing lol

Sally Hansen, Min Sorbet, holo glitter, ombre, nails, nail art, nail design, mani

I don't hate it but I don't love it either.  I want to try this again with a darker/more contrasting color.

Until next time!

Tiny Rainbows

Good morning dearies!

I have a very special set of philanges to share with you today :)  My model for this post is a young girl that I love to pieces!  She was a beautiful flower girl in my wedding and when she asked if I would paint rainbows on her nails... well I just couldn't say no haha (I also couldn't resist recreating it for myself, but that's later in this post)...

little girl, cutepolish, tutorial, rainbow, clouds, french, frenchie, nails, nail art, nail design, mani
Colors Used: Revlon - Mon Cherie, Sally Hansen - Mellow Yellow, Love & Beauty - Cobalt, Essie - Blanc, China Glaze - Fairy Dust

Let me start by saying that I brought the wrong polish remover with me (enriched instead of acetone) so my clean up is atrocious!  Also, little girl's nails are VERY hard to paint!  Lol, but it was totally worth it because she was beaming when I was finished :)

I referred to a tutorial that I saw from Cute Polish because I wanted the rainbow to fit on her tiny nail beds.  I then told her that I want her to stay a little girl forever, just with adult hands... she looked at me like I was nuts.  Nothing out of the ordinary there lol.

And here is my recreation on my own nails...

cutepolish, tutorial, rainbow, clouds, french, frenchie, nails, nail art, nail design, mani

The above 3 photos are before adding the glitter and top coat the last is with...

I'm really happy with the results and appreciative of the inspiration ;)

Until next time!
